What follows is a list of various discussion lists on the web devoted to the Renaissance cittern and other metal-strung, plucked instruments.

For emails containing information about updates to this site, join the cittern page updates list. To join, simply follow the link to fill out the brief subscription form on the list information page.

The Cittern Pages "Builders" List

The cittern-builders' forum was started specifically for those who are interested in discussing in-depth the process of building a cittern and woodworking tips in general. The list is open to both builders and the curious, alike. The range of topics includes other related instruments from the 12th through the 20th centuries, but the focus of discussion is primarily on the Renaissance cittern. To join, simply follow the link to fill out the brief subscription form on the list information page.

There is also an archive of old messages available from the list information page. Access to the archives is currently restricted to list members only.

The Dartmouth Cittern Discussion List

For more information on the Renaissance cittern and other related metal-strung plucked instruments, consider joining the Cittern Discussion List sponsored by Wayne Cripps of Dartmouth University. The discussion list is for historical cittern players, makers and scholars and serves to provide a place for the discussion of all matters pertaining to historical citterns and related instruments, and their music. The subject matter ranges from 16th to 21st(!) century citterns.

To get on the list, send mail to
cittern-request@cs.dartmouth.edu.

Please note that sometimes there is not much traffic on the list.
